Passenger help desk opens in 15 places of Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Traffic Police has set up help desks at 15 different places of Kathmandu Valley from today in a bid to ease the passengers going out of the Valley during the upcoming festivals.

Chief of the Traffic Police Office, Senior Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari said that the help desk is being set up in collaboration with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC). The help desk will be set up at New Buspark, Nagdhunga, Kalanki, Swayambhu, Halchowk, Machhapokhari, Chabahil, Tilganga, Koteshwor, Jagati, Satdobato, Balkhu, Dakshinkali, Sundhara and Sanga. The passenger help desk will come into operation from today.

“The help desk is being set up with the participation of transport entrepreneurs to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers, manage traffic pressure and make the festival season accident-free,” he said.

President of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs Bijaya Bahadur Swar said that a team comprising the Department of Transport Management, Traffic Police and entrepreneurs deputed at the passenger help desk will check whether the vehicles have been charging more than the fixed fare.

Similarly, the passenger help desk will have fare pasted at each ticket counter. According to the Traffic Police, the traffic police will monitor the activities like keeping passengers beyond the capacity of the vehicles, black marketing of tickets and leaving the passengers stranded on the way without taking them to their destinations.
