Journalist Ananta Raj Neupane wrote on Facebook, “If a media had not played baseless and unconfirmed news, the Hilton Hotel could have been saved.” The confusion, stunts and propaganda spread by the same media created another catastrophe. ’

Journalist Ranjit Tamang wrote on Facebook, “The Hilton Hotel turned to ashes when journalists lost patience for something as trivial as earning views. The black mark of Hilton Hotel’s Rs 8 billion on the forehead of Nepali journalism will not be erased for generations. I was not in favour of such smear journalism yesterday, not today, nor tomorrow! Surrey. ’

Journalist Prakash Chandra Timilsina wrote on Facebook, “Dilbhushan Pathak is the main culprit in the burning of Hilton Hotel, due to his fake YouTube, the biggest brand was destroyed in a minute. These are the best friends. ’

Journalist Chet Narayan writes on Facebook, “Hotel Hilton became a victim of a journalist’s misinformation, and the Ullens School, where the daughter was educated at a subsidized rate, was also reduced to ashes by a journalist who gave false information.” Can the father tell his daughter of Genji’s age now? “The Hilton Hotel and your school burned down because of my journalistic misinformation, please forgive me if you can. I had a misinformation at the Hilton, whose rap also ignited a fire in Ulence. ’

Journalist Sitaram Baral writes on Facebook, “A message to us journalists from the burn-out Hilton Hotel: ‘Not only the political party and leadership, there is a need for correction in journalism even more. Before publishing and broadcasting, decide whether to publish or not, only after looking at the long-term results!

These status are only representative.

Journalist Dilbhushan Pathak has been arguing that protesters vandalized and torched the Hilton Hotel where about 140 tourists were staying during the Genji protests. Many believe that the Hilton Hotel was set on fire and reduced to ashes due to the video broadcast on Tough Talk with Dilbhushan Pathak on his YouTube channel Tough Talk with Dilbhushan Pathak. The main reason for this was that on September 10, the agitators reached the hotel at around 12 noon and vandalized it and set it on fire. Within a few hours, the hotel was in ruins.

That’s the news that has been taken. According to a statement issued by the hotel management, the hotel was set on fire due to unconfirmed news. In April, news was published that Jai Bir Singh Deuba (son of former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and outgoing Foreign Minister Arzu Deuba) had investments in the hotel. Based on the same unconfirmed news, Pathak broadcast a video on his YouTube channel on May 17, 2082. Which became very popular. Later, the hotel management refuted the news saying that Deuba had no investment and there was no truth in the news published and broadcast.

The incident did not end there, Deuba filed a complaint against Pathak at the Cyber Bureau for spreading false information. There was a lot of controversy after the arrest warrant was issued to Pathak.

Pathak claims that he has made an ‘explainer’ video and broadcast only the news published at that time and the discussions made by the general public and what the hotel management has to say on this matter.

After the video was leaked and there was a lot of discussion during the court process, some parts of the video went viral. It went viral. Only a part of that video was cut and there was a lot of discussion on social media Facebook reel, YouTube reel, Tiktok.

The hotel management has claimed that not only Deuba but his family did not have any investment in the hotel. However, the society, which did anything to get into the limelight of social media, did not try to understand the reality. In the same video, he remembered Deuba’s name and attacked him. Billions of investments were reduced to ruins in a matter of minutes.

After the fire broke out in the hotel, various people from the journalism sector have questioned the source of information, the impact of misinformation, the broadcasting of videos in the name of gaining views, and the materials to be published. Some have questioned why readers do not take moral responsibility for this incident.

The international chain Hilton Hotels and Resorts was burnt down by making a video viral on the basis of unconfirmed information, and the impact of this on foreign investment in Nepal cannot be assessed right now. What kind of message do the 140 tourists staying in this hotel carry in their country?

This is the most complicated issue. Based on information that cannot be verified by itself, what will be the effect of the content being created for the view? If Nepal’s journalism is not aware of this, then why not be the first example of the Rs 8.5 billion Hotel Hilton that has turned into a smoke plum since 12 noon on September 10?

Now everyone on social media is interested in this issue. On the other hand, the hotel management has issued a statement saying that the hotel will be returned to its old condition in about 1 year. The hotel will be rebuilt and brought into operation, and the state will take action against the wrongdoers. But what must have happened to the mind of the foreign tourists who have stayed in that hotel for some time and have turned into smoke in the interval of some time? What is their perception of Nepal? What do foreign investors who want to invest in Nepal are thinking right now?
