Kathmandu. Foreign investment commitment worth Rs 33.09 billion has been received for 236 projects till mid-August of the current fiscal year 2082/83.
According to the report released by the Department of Industry on foreign investment approval for mid-July and August, the commitment to invest in 225 small, four medium scale and seven big projects has been made. According to the Department, the highest commitment of investment has been made in agro-based industries on the basis of cost and information technology-based industries in terms of number of projects. Commitment of Rs 21.59 billion has been made for nine projects in agro-based industries.
Similarly, commitment of Rs 1.24 billion has been received in 12 projects of manufacturing industries, Rs 182.5 million in one project of energy industry and Rs 2.81 billion in 15 projects of service based industries. Similarly, commitment of Rs 6.69 billion has been received in 79 projects related to tourism sector and Rs 562.7 million in 120 projects of information technology-based industries.
Likewise, in the last two months alone, 409 investors, 60 representatives of investors and 107 dependents have been provided visa facility for Nepal. The Department of Industry has so far approved investment worth Rs 684.51 billion for 7,475 projects.
