Kathmandu. Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Nepal Mission Chief Jahan Sarawat held a virtual meeting today.
During the meeting, Sarawat discussed with the Finance Minister the possible impact of the political developments in Nepal on the economy and the continuity of economic reform programmes.
On the occasion, Finance Minister Khanal said that the main task of the incumbent government formed under special circumstances is to hold the election to the House of Representatives on the stipulated date.
He said that the government was committed to good governance and creating employment opportunities in the country, as expressed during the demonstration led by the youths recently. On the occasion, Minister Khanal said that the economic reform programmes being implemented on the suggestion of the International Monetary Fund would be further intensified.
On the occasion, the meeting reviewed the status of the implementation of the extended credit facility being implemented with the assistance of the IMF and discussed the topic of presenting its sixth review report to the IMF Board meeting soon.
On the occasion, International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Jahan said the government was ready to work together with the new government in economic reform programmes in Nepal.
