According to Police Inspector Upendra Bahadur Budhathoki of Area Police Office Jamunaha, the number of people returning home from India has abruptly gone up with approaching festivals. A total of 35,175 Nepalis have returned home from the border point in a week. Similarly, 34,710 people have gone to India.
“The flow of people coming to Nepal from India has increased from today,” he said. Around two thousand Nepalis are returning home every day to celebrate the festivals, he said. The border was closed during the Genji protests a few days ago. According to police, the number of Nepalis entering Nepal from India has increased after the resumption of the transit point.
Nepal Police has set up help desks at border points to ease the movement of people. This desk will also be set up at Bus Park of Nepalgunj and Bus Park of Kohalpur, said District Police, Banke.
