Kathmandu. On the second day of Navratri, Goddess Brahmacharini, the second of the nine goddesses, is worshipped.

On the first day of Navratri, on Monday, barley jamara is kept in the Dashain house or worship room according to the Vedic rituals. On the same day, Shailputri, the first goddess among the nine goddesses, was invoked and worshiped with rituals. On the second day of Navratri, Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped.

During the nine days of Navratri, Durga Saptashati (Chandi), Shrimad Devi Bhagwat and Devi Stotra are recited at the site of Ghatasthapana. There is a religious belief that worshiping the goddess on the occasion of Navratri brings power, prosperity and knowledge. On this basis, the followers of Vedic Sanatan Dharma offer special worship to Goddess Durga every year from Ashwin Shukla Pratipada to Navami. The prasad that is offered for nine days is offered from Bijaya Dashami to Kojagrat Purnima.

Brahmacharini is the second goddess of the Navadurga who is believed to be constantly working to make the liberated beings of the world aware of Brahma in the form of Satchidananda. There is a rule that lotus, rosary and kamandalu should be made in the hands of Brahmacharini.

During Navratri, devotees throng the Shakti Peeths from all over the country to worship and pay obeisance. Devotees have started thronging the shrines across the country since Monday.
