Kathmandu. Electric vehicles worth more than TAG_CLOSE_u_7 TAG_OPEN_u_7 one and a half billion rupees were imported in August. According to the data released by the Department of Customs on Tuesday, EVs worth Rs 1.69 billion were imported in August.
Imports have increased in August as compared to the previous month. In the first month of the current fiscal year, EVs worth Rs 55.57 crore were imported. Such imports increased by Rs 1.04 billion in August compared to August.
The government has collected Rs 91 TAG_CLOSE_u_6 TAG_OPEN_u_6.81 crore in revenue from the import of EVs till the month of August. With the increase in imports, the revenue collected by the government has also increased. The government had collected Rs 33.20 crore from e-import in the first month of August.
Lately, two trade transit points with Nepal with China have remained closed for some time. The Rasuwa checkpoint has been closed since July 23 while the Tatopani checkpoint, which remained closed for most of the months of July and August, has come into operation from Monday after the removal of landslide at Kodari. Traders are now importing EVs through Korala border point due to the closure of two border points. The Korala checkpoint came into operation from September 30.
