Kathmandu. Tanka Prasad Pandey, spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance, said that the government and the private sector are partners. Speaking at a programme entitled ‘The Way Forward for Revival of Economy’ organized by the Federation of Economic Journalists-Nepal here today, Minister Pandey said that the government was focused on relief and relief package, security and good governance in collaboration with the private sector.

“The economic recovery programme is a high priority. The message should be given that investment in Nepal is safe. We have started by removing the burnt vehicles and painting them. The government did not have property insurance. The damage was not covered. We have become aware,” he said.

On what the government is doing, Pandey said, “More than Rs 9 billion has been released for payment of arrears of concessional loans. The Tatopani transit point on the Chinese side has come into operation from Wednesday. The Korala border point has been opened. We have extended the deadline for filing tax at the finance minister’s level. The Council of Ministers has already approved the Work Procedure of the Reconstruction Fund. ’

Stating that the government has proposed to cut government expenditure, he said Rs 121 billion would be deposited in the fund after the reduction. During the demonstration, it was decided to waive customs duty on imports required for the reconstruction of damaged structures. “Good governance is the first priority of the ministry. We have started the hotline service from yesterday. The minister has started taking complaints by making his own email public. We are facilitating the payment of contractors through the Office of Financial Comptroller General,” he said.
