Chitwan. It is said it will take two days to remove the debris that fell on Tuin rivulet along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section. The landslide that occurred at 4.30 pm on Tuesday is being removed from this morning.
According to Narayan Lamichhane, chief of the Division Road Office, Bharatpur, two loaders, an excavator and a vaculoader have been mobilized to remove the landslide. Another excavator has been brought from Damauli.
A total of 160 meters of the road has been covered by the landslide. Lamichhane said that although there is less possibility of another big landslide from above, there is a possibility of more small and medium scale landslides as some boulders have completely fallen.
The landslide has been continuously falling at the place since last Friday. Though some vehicular movement has been diverted from time to time by clearing the landslide, it has come to a halt since Tuesday evening. A large number of vehicles have been queuing up due to the obstruction of the road. However, the passenger vehicles have turned back and are heading towards an alternative route. Cargo vehicles are in line.
Alternative path
The Division Road Office, Chitwan has urged the public to use alternative routes after the vehicular movement was stopped due to a landslide at Tuin rivulet. According to the information provided by the office, small vehicles can go to Malekhu of Dhading via Jutpani, Shaktikhor and Mayantar of Chitwan. One can go to Hetauda of Makwanpur from Naubise of Dhading via Tribhuvan Highway.
According to the office, light vehicles can be operated from Hetauda via Buffalo, Bhimphedi, Kulekhane, Sisneri and Dakshinkali road. For the vehicles heading towards Kathmandu, one can use the Kanti Highway from the east to take Satdobato of Lalitpur via Hetauda, Gingan, Bhattedanda and Satdobato.
Similarly, both big and small vehicles can go to Pokhara via Butwal. Small vehicles can ply on the Kaligandaki corridor route. One can go to Bhimad of Tanahun and Rampur of Palpa from Gaindakot, according to the office.
