Jhapa. The Salt Trading Corporation Limited Jhapa office has distributed 2,113 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizers in the first phase of the current fiscal year 2082/83.
Among them, 1,355 metric tonnes of urea and 758 metric tonnes DAP fertiliser were deployed. Office chief Bishnu Prasad Neupane said the fertilizer was distributed through local cooperatives and agriculture organisations. Cooperatives and agricultural institutions designated by the rural municipalities have been selling the fertilizers to the farmers.
A total of 1,305 metric tonnes of urea and 758 metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer have been sold for paddy farming since mid-July of the current fiscal year, he added. In the same period, 50 metric tonnes of urea fertilizer was distributed for tea cultivation.
He said that the local levels had recommended authorised vendors to distribute fertilizer to 140 cooperatives and agricultural institutions for paddy cultivation. Of the DAP fertilizer available for paddy cultivation in the first phase, the office has 228 metric tonnes in stock.
Of the tea fertiliser, 600 metric tonnes urea and 400 metric tonnes DAP fertilizer is in stock at the office, he said. According to him, there is a provision to provide chemical fertilizers to the tea producing companies and institutions registered with the Tea and Coffee Development Board.
