Around 4,000 police personnel, including drones, deployed after prisoners escape from Jenji protest

Surkhet. Karnali: A total of 3,908 police personnel will be mobilized in Karnali district in view of possible security risks during the Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals.

Spokesperson of the Provincial Police Office and Senior Superintendent of Police Kedar Khanal said that the Province TAG_OPEN_div_22 Police Office has prepared an ‘Integrated Festival Security Action Plan-2082’ and has planned to mobilize security personnel along with drones. According to him, the security plan will be in effect from September 22 to October 23.

Security officials said there is a risk of more criminal incidents during the festival season as the inmates and detainees who have been absconding from various police stations in the country may return to their homes during the festival time.TAG_OPEN_div_20 Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khanal said that a planned police mobilization, monitoring and control was necessary to prevent any untoward incidents.

Fifty-TAG_OPEN_div_18 three mobile patrols, 112 motorcycle patrols, 92 QRTs (Rapid Response Teams) and 178 foot patrols have been mobilized, he said. A total of 20 long and short distance patrols have also been deployed.

The public awareness campaign is being carried out through miking at nine places while police have been mobilized at 45 locations for the security of banks and financial institutions and market monitoring.

According to Khanal, police have been mobilized for the security of eight VIPs and security of 318 other places.TAG_OPEN_div_12 According to the security plan, the maximum use of technology has been made as well as surveillance and monitoring by drones in sensitive situations. He said that easy supply of essential commodities including foodstuffs would be managed by monitoring to prevent artificial shortage and black marketing.
