Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kul Man Ghising paid a courtesy call on Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, Daniel Meuli at the latter’s office today.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation at Singha Durbar, Ambassador Meuli extended congratulations to Minister Ghising on behalf of Switzerland and wished him a successful term.
The meeting discussed the implementation status of the projects currently being run with Swiss cooperation, areas of short-term and long-term cooperation, Swiss investment and bilateral cooperation, among other topics.
Expressing gratitude to the Swiss government for its support in Nepal’s development, Minister Ghising said that the main priorities of the government formed after the Zenji movement were to rebuild the public and government structures damaged during the agitation and to instill hope among the youths by maintaining good governance.
He also urged the government to promote electric vehicles, encourage the use of electricity as fuel for household use, adopt tunnel technology from Switzerland in road transport in Nepal, promote green hydrogen energy and provide assistance for employment generation through establishment of small industries.
At present, small irrigation programs, bridges, technical assistance in the Siddhababa tunnel and employment-oriented skill development training are being run with the support of the Swiss government. On the occasion, Ambassador Meuli said that the Swiss government was always ready to support Nepal in the energy and infrastructure development sector.
