Kathmandu. European Union Ambassador to Nepal Veronique Lorenzo paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar today.
In a meeting held at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation at Singha Durbar today, Ambassador Lorenza extended congratulations to Minister Ghising on behalf of the European Union and wished him a successful term, according to Ghising’s Secretariat.
During the meeting, discussions were held on strategic importance and transformative reservoir-based hydropower projects, green energy, energy security and efficiency, and additional assistance in energy sector.
Minister Ghising said that the priority of the government formed after the Genji demonstration was to make policy and legal reforms, inter-ministry coordination, and ensure more electricity market to take the development projects forward.
Expressing gratitude to the European Union for its assistance in Nepal’s development, he requested the EU to provide additional assistance for the improvement of transmission and distribution system as the construction of the 670 MW Dudhkoshi Reservoir Project was in high priority.
EU was always ready to provide further support and collaboration in Nepal’s energy sector, he said.
