Kathmandu. The CPN-UML has expressed serious concern over the recommendation of the probe commission to suspend the passports of five persons, including party chairman KP Sharma Oli, into the incident that took place on September 7 and 24.
A meeting of the CPN-UML Secretariat held today has expressed serious concern over the recommendation of withholding the passports of five persons including Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Such a vindictive decision has also raised serious questions on the credibility of the commission.
The meeting also decided to hold its 10th central committee meeting in Kathmandu on October 12 and another meeting of the party’s central secretariat on October 19-20.
Recently, the Home Ministry has said that the party’s serious attention has been drawn to the directive issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Nepal Police not to take any action against the culprits involved in the September 24 devastating incident.
This directive not only interferes with the lawful jurisdiction of the Nepal Police to investigate crimes, but it also has the objectionable intention of boosting the morale of the criminals and giving them immunity. The party has expressed serious objection to this and serious attention has been drawn to ensure an environment for the Nepal Police to work without any hindrance.
