Finance Minister Khanal and Japanese envoy hold meeting on Nagdhunga Tunnel, Tanahun hydropower project

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Minister for Finance Rameshwor Prasad Khanal and Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Maeda Toru held a meeting at the latter’s residence in Baluwatar today.

During the meeting, matters relating to the current changed situation, historic relations between Nepal and Japan and Japanese assistance in Nepal’s socio-economic development were discussed.

On the occasion, Finance Minister Khanal said the main task of the incumbent government formed under special circumstances was to hold the elections on the stipulated date.

He said that the socio-economic development works including reconstruction would be continued during this period. On the occasion, discussions were held on the ongoing Nagdhunga Tunnel Road Project, Tanahun Hydropower Project and other areas of cooperation, as well as the emergency rehabilitation of Koteshwor and Sindhuli roads (flood-affected) that are going to be signed in near future.

Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyay and Joint Secretary at the Foreign Cooperation Coordination Division Dhaniram Sharma were also present during the meeting, according to Ministry Spokesperson Tanka Prasad Pandey.
