Mustang. The Mustang Customs Office at Nhechung in Lomanthang-2 has collected revenue of Rs 1.37 billion so far.

The Department of Customs had used Korala checkpoint as an alternative trade route when Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani border points were blocked due to floods and landslides in August. According to Ramesh Khadka, chief of the checkpoint, there has been a significant improvement in revenue collection within two weeks of its full operation from September 12.

He said that 769 out of 791 electric vehicles have been sent to their destinations after completing customs clearance in the last two weeks. Likewise, out of 311 containers imported from Nepal, 246 containers have already cleared the customs clearance and departed for their destinations, Khadka said.

A total of 65 containers entering Nepal from China are yet to clear customs clearance. So far, only five containers of goods have been exported to China through this checkpoint. Khadka said handicraft goods and local products have been exported to China from Nepal.

As the goods continue to arrive from China, the Department has said that the customs will continue to operate during other times except the Dashain Tika day.
