Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) is organizing a Phulpati ceremony at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel this afternoon.

President Ram Chandra Poudel will be the chief guest of the ceremony. As per the constitutional provision, President Poudel is the supreme commander of the Nepal Army.

The ceremony will witness a military parade performance, Durga dance, display of banner with ‘Phulpati Badhaai Ceremony-2082’ written from an army helicopter and showering of flower petals. Phulpati is considered to be a unique program to continue religion, culture and tradition.

The Jamara and Phulpati brought from Gorkha are celebrated at Hanumandhoka Dashain Ghar and there is a tradition of increasing the Phulpati at Tundikhel. Present on the occasion are Vice-President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal, ministers and distinguished members. Every year, the NA has been distributing Phulpati on the occasion of Bada Dashain festival at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel.
