Kathmandu. Rajapur Municipality of Bardiya district, known as the storehouse of grains, has seen the paddy fields very attractive these days.

Of the total 75,000 hectares of arable land in Bardiya, paddy is cultivated in 50,100 hectares of land.

Bardiya contributes 20 percent of the rice produced in Lumbini Province. The government has declared Rajapur Municipality as a paddy super zone. Farmers in Bardiya, who were dependent only on paddy cultivation in the past years, have lately started getting attracted to crops like sugarcane and maize.
