Kanchanpur. The construction of the Postal Highway in Kanchanpur has been obstructed due to Indian obstruction.

The construction of around 700 metres of the Postal Highway near Nepal-India border pillar number 38 at Pachui of Belauri Municipality-8 was awarded in the fiscal year 2073÷74 but it has not moved ahead due to obstruction by India.

Potilal Chaudhary, mayor of the municipality, said that the Indian Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) has been obstructing the road construction on the basis of the Eaststrip map. He said that the Indian side has been obstructing the road saying it falls within the border.

According to him, the Nepali people have been using the land in the area of 50 meters to 300 meters south of the road for many years. Mayor Chaudhary said the municipality has informed the Prime Minister through a letter to take necessary initiatives for the construction of the road.
