Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said the monsoon would become more active from October 1.
Issuing the Dashain special weather bulletin, the Department said monsoon will become more active in the country from October 1 due to the low pressure system developed from the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to rain in many parts of the country.
According to meteorologist Binu Maharjan at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, although the influence of the monsoon wind is somewhat weak in Nepal, the low pressure system developed in the Bay of Bengal is moving towards central India from Orissa of India. It is likely to become more active as it is on the verge of entering Nepal and is expected to arrive here on the 17th. ”
According to him, monsoon wind carrying water vapor is entering Nepal due to low pressure system and monsoon activities are likely to become active in several parts of the country, especially in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces from October 1.
“Therefore, there will be influence of monsoon wind in Nepal throughout the Dashain period this year. Weather is changing in Nepal due to the influence of monsoon and development of local wind in Nepal at present,” he said.
Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at some places of the hilly region and at a few places of the Tarai region while light to moderate rain has been forecast at a few places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and at a few places of the rest of the provinces on October 3. There are chances of heavy rain at one or two places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and at some places of the rest of the provinces on October 3. Likewise, heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted at few places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
There are chances of light to moderate rainfall at many places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and at few places of the rest of the provinces on October 1. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, there are chances of heavy to very heavy rainfall at few places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
According to the Department, soil erosion, flood, landslide as well as road and air transport may be affected due to possible rainfall as monsoon is likely to become active towards the end of Dashain. One and all have been requested to take necessary precaution by getting updated information about the weather.
