Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has requested people to adopt special alertness from October 1 to 20.
The Department has asked for high probability of flash floods in the rivers flowing through Kathmandu Valley, Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Makawanpur, Chitwan, Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Madhesh of Bagmati Province, Bara, Parsa, Sarlahi, Rautahat and surrounding districts of Bagmati Province.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the low-pressure weather system that developed in the Bay of Bengal is likely to enter Nepal from Odisha of India and gradually shift towards central India.
According to the latest analysis, the water level in the Narayani, Bagmati, Kamala and Koshi rivers and their tributaries is likely to increase significantly and reach near the danger level.
At present, the Department has been regularly monitoring the weather and possible adverse situation of floods in the context of monsoon failure in Nepal. Therefore, the Department requests all to adopt necessary precaution by receiving updated prior information to be disseminated through website, social networks, toll-free service (1155) and other means of communication. “
The Department has appealed to all bodies related to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management to prepare for the preparedness and necessary precautionary work by disseminating the forecasts and early warnings to be issued by the Department of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management keeping in mind the possible risks of flood, inundation, landslide, soil erosion and other risks as well as the possibility of disruption of road and air transport.
