Kathmandu. Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal has directed the security agencies to be prepared for disaster risk management and mitigation. He issued the directive during an inspection visit to the Nepal Police Disaster Management Office, Samakhusi today.
During the inspection visit, Minister Aryal observed the disaster rescue drill and the disaster rescue material store and took stock of the activities related to the disaster. At a programme organised after the inspection, Home Minister Aryal lauded the Nepal Police for its role in disaster management despite limited resources and training.
He also directed them to remain conscientious and be ready to be mobilized immediately at any time with high morale to control and minimize the loss of life and property possible from the risk of disaster.
Additional Inspector General of Police Siddhi Bikram Shah, Chief of Nepal Police Headquarters, proposed the vote of thanks. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Kumar Bhattarai, chief of Nepal Police Headquarters, Nepal Police Disaster Management Office, Samakhusi, presented a presentation on disaster incident and police mobilization, monsoon preparedness and disaster response plan, need for effective response and future plan among others.
