Kathmandu. A total of 285 people have lost their lives in various natural disasters since mid-April this year.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, another 27 people are still missing. NRA Spokesperson Shanti Mahat said that 44 people have died and five are still missing in the landslide.
The highest number of people lost their lives in landslides at 37 in Ilam district today while 50 districts have been affected by the latest system, he said. According to the NRA, 86 people have died from snakebite since mid-April. After this, 46 people died in landslides and 45 in lightning.
As per the disaster-related incident record released by the NRA today, 30 people died in floods, 6 in incidents of heavy rain, 23 in incidents of fire, eight in the storm and 22 in the attack of wild animals, and 19 in high-altitude sickness.
Similarly, 23 people have gone missing in floods, three in landslides and one in animal attacks. Mahat said that so far 4,065 incidents of natural disasters have been reported and 1,072 people have been injured. A total of 7,211 families have been affected by the disaster, he said.
