Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: A narrow-body A 320 aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has flown to Kathmandu on a chartered flight carrying stranded passengers from Bhairahawa.

The aircraft with flight number RA 1731 from Kathmandu will fly from Bhairahawa-based Gautam Buddha International Airport carrying 151 passengers. However, the number of passengers may fluctuate slightly, according to the corporation. Although the NAC had scheduled a flight to Kathmandu at 2:45 pm by operating RA 1732, it will take time as it is delayed than scheduled.

The special initiative of Prime Minister Sushila Karki and coordination of Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal will bring the stranded passengers to Kathmandu by a Nepal Airlines Corporation aircraft.

KATHMANDU: The Airlines Corporation (NAC) has launched a rescue flight today as per the special directive of the government in the adverse situation caused by floods and landslides in the country. The flight fare from Kathmandu has been fixed at Rs 5,000 and from Bhairahawa at Rs 7,000. Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) spokesperson Rinji Sherpa said the flights were operating regularly today as the weather was favourable.

The corporation has made it clear that special priority will be given to the disabled, senior citizens, sick and essential passengers in the rescue flights. According to Pratap Babu Tiwari, general manager of Gautam Buddha International Airport, a large number of passengers are waiting for flights in Bhairahawa.

“There are a lot of passengers at the airport. Aircraft seats are limited. Although some airlines have added flights, the number of passengers is very high. The airport is working to increase the number of flights and take the passengers to their destinations,” Tiwari said.
