Water level in Saptakoshi river recedes as rain stops

Sunsari. The water level in the Saptakoshi river has decreased with the cessation of incessant rain. According to Superintendent of Police Nirmal Thapa, the water level at Koshi Barrage was recorded at 435,305 cusecs per second as measured at 6:00 am today.

The water flow was 533,540 cusecs per second last night. He said the water level in the river has been decreasing with the cessation of rainfall since last night.

Currently, 56 gates of the Koshi Barrage have been opened, he said. On Sunday morning, red beacons were lit and red lights were hoisted as a sign of danger when the water level in the river rose.
