43 households in Hukurthum village of Baglung have access to drinking water

Baglung. Baglung, Feb. 12: ‘One house, one tap’ has come into operation at Hukurthum of Badigad rural municipality-2 in Baglung district. Water taps were constructed in 43 houses of Hukurtham with the investment of Badigad Rural Municipality, Nepal Health for Health (Newa Organization) and people’s labor.

According to Kesh Bahadur Kumal, chairperson of the Gahate-Hukurthum Drinking Water Sanitation and Sanitation Project, the organization has invested Rs 1.5 million 65,000, Badigad Rural Municipality Rs 472,000 and Jan Shramdaan Rs 604,000.

Earlier, the locals used to use water from five public taps in the village. Chairperson Kumal said that the entire village has been facing a lot of problems while consuming water from limited taps. He said that the problem of waiting for hours to fill a pitcher of water has been solved after the construction of one house and one tap.

Chairman Kumal said, “There was a problem of drinking water in the village for many years, but this year it has finally been resolved, it has become very easy for us after the water started falling in the courtyard of the house. ’

Program Officer of Newa Sanstha Binod Koirala said that 45 articles have been developed in the program. According to him, a house and a tap have been constructed by taking water from the Maruwaijhyal source which is two kilometers away in Hukurthum. Koirala said that the taps were constructed in collaboration with the rural municipality after demanding a solution to the problem of drinking water in the village for long.
