Kavrepalanchok. The floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday have disrupted the road network and power supply in four local levels of the district. Communication has been disrupted in some rural areas due to disruption of power supply in these rural municipalities while they are compelled to wait for a few days due to road disruption.

Landslides have obstructed the road leading to Khanikhola, Mahabharat, Roshi and Bethanchowk rural municipalities of the district. However, some rural municipalities have started opening the road with necessary equipment from Monday. Floods and landslides have completely obstructed the road leading to two rural municipalities of the Mahabharat mountain range. The people’s representatives at the local levels said it would take a week to open the road leading to Khanikhola and Mahabharat rural municipalities in the area.

In the Mahabharata, there has been a disconnection from roads, electricity and communications. “There is no alternative route to Mahabharat due to road obstruction,” said Kanchha Lal Jimba, chairman of the Mahabharata. According to him, the main road leading to the rural municipality office and all the roads leading to different wards have been obstructed at different places.

“It may take more than a week to repair all these damaged roads, and we are immediately planning how to restore both services as the power supply has also been disrupted,” Jimba said. According to him, the Chaukidanda-Sipali, Pinthali-Rajwas, Mangaltar-Dandakharka and Piple-Bhimkhori sections along the highway have been obstructed.

Likewise, Indra Bahadur Thing, chairperson of the rural municipality, said that it would take some more time to resume the road leading to Khanikhola of the rural municipality. According to him, the machine has been used to open the road since Monday. “There is a problem in fuel management due to the road blockage, we are trying,” Thing said. He said that necessary human resources have been mobilized to bring the power service into operation within ÷a day or two.

The road leading to different wards has been obstructed after BP cut temporary diversions at different places along the Roshi road. Chairperson of the rural municipality, Dinesh Lama, said that the rural municipality centre would be connected to the road network only after the construction of roads at Chaukidanda and Ghumaune. According to him, the power supply in Roshi has been partially disrupted and the service will be restored immediately immediately.

Meanwhile, the people’s representatives have been active since Sunday to open the obstructed road at Bethanchowk. Priority has been given to open the obstructed main roads. Necessary machines are being used to open the road connecting the rural municipality office to other wards, said Bhagawan Adhikari, chairperson of the rural municipality. Two people have died in floods and landslides in the district while infrastructure and private physical infrastructure have been badly damaged.
