Former PM Oli inaugurated a view tower in Damak worth Rs 1.64 billion, costing Rs 250 million (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu. According to Ramesh Thing, chief of the Urban and Building Construction Office, Jhapa, the view tower at Damak-3 in Jhapa suffered a loss of Rs 255 million. The view tower, which was built at a cost of Rs 1.64 billion, has been demolished within two months of its operation.

The view tower was inaugurated by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on December 7, 2081. The tower, which was built on the concept of a commercial complex, was opened for public viewing.

 

All the windows of the 18-storey view tower were smashed, the gate of the view tower, the ticket counter, the security post and the staff building were set on fire. The fire was also set inside the view tower, which was not even able to go, and there was no fire inside as there was an automatic water flow system during the fire.

The view tower, which was opened for the general public from mid-July, earned Rs 679,000 including viewing fee and parking, while 6,713 people had visited the view tower in the first one month and Rs 205,530 including parking and observation fee was collected till September 6 ।
