Goats and sheep worth Rs 100 million traded in Jumla during Dashain

Jumla. During this year’s Dashain period, transactions worth Rs 10 crore have been made. The sale and purchase of goats and sheep at the local levels including the district headquarters Khalanga Bazaar has resulted in the transaction of this amount.

Chief of the Livestock Development Section of Chandannath Municipality, Bir Bahadur Rawat, said that out of this, local sheep were bought and sold at Rs 93.44 million. It is estimated that around 20 million other sheep have been sold in the district. Similarly, buffaloes and buffaloes worth Rs 26.77 million have been bought and sold from the municipality area. ’

A total of 5,843 sheep, 256 goats and 63 buffaloes were bought and sold this year. The maximum price of local sheep during the Dashain festival has been fixed at Rs 23,000, the minimum price at Rs 9,000 and the average price at Rs 16,000, said Rawat.

The maximum price of goat is Rs 22,000, the minimum price is Rs 8,000 and the average price is Rs 15,000. Similarly, the maximum price of buffaloes is Rs 61,000, the minimum price is Rs 24,000 and the average price is Rs 42,500.

Goats, sheep and buffaloes were brought here from Mugu, Kalikot, Dailekh, Bajura and other districts. According to the municipality, the price of Dashain last year was Rs 163.23 million. According to local traders, the price of sheep and goat has decreased by 30 percent this year compared to last year.
