Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has started collecting details of the losses caused to agriculture and livestock sector due to recent heavy rains. The Ministry has asked the authorities concerned to collect preliminary details of losses from all seven states and send them to the Centre.
Ministry’s information officer Mahananda Joshi said the details would be collected on the types and quantity of agricultural products damaged by the floods, the status of damage to cattle sheds, commercial farms and the condition of the affected farmers. The agriculture offices in all provinces under the Ministry will collect the damage data with the coordination and cooperation of the concerned local governments.
After collecting the details of the damage caused by the floods, the contribution of the farmers would be assessed on the basis of data and support and facilities would be provided to the farmers as per the need.
The Ministry has said that it would provide assistance in fertilizers, seeds, technology, technical skills and other facilities if the farmers have insured the crops and livestock.
Information Officer Joshi said that a detailed plan would be formulated and implemented after carrying out further study and research on the measures to reduce the risk in the coming days based on the data.
