Kathmandu. CPN-UML politburo member Mahesh Basnet has demanded that Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal and Energy Minister Kulman Ghising should investigate into the money laundering case.

He said this while addressing a press conference at the party office in Chyasal today.

Khanal, who is also a former secretary, is now a minister and he has announced that he will not take any facilities. “Where did the former secretary get the house and car from where the minister lives? Let’s start the investigation from him,” he said.

Speaking at the press meet, Basnet said that dozens of complaints against Kulman Ghising have been filed at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and he should also be investigated. “There are dozens of cases under the authority of Kulmanji and dozens of cases related to money laundering. There are dozens of cases in the parliamentary committee, should we start the investigation from there or not?” he asked.

According to Basnet, the property earned by Ghising was invested in the name of his relatives. According to Basnet, Minister Ghising had reached the district to inspect the road constructed by his brother Lama Construction during last week’s floods.
