Kathmandu. The bridge from Gaurighat to Guheshwori Temple has been completed after a year. The construction of the bridge has been completed after the Department of Archaeology stopped the use of modern construction materials in the construction of the bridge.

The news was published with pictures that the devotees visiting the Pashupatinath area were facing problems due to the delay in the construction of the bridge in the second week of July. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) had agreed to construct the bridge in its original shape after the news was published.

Seven months have passed since the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the bridge. The Department of Archaeology had stopped the reconstruction of the bridge saying it should be built in its old form after the reconstruction of the bridge started against the standards to be adopted while constructing the World Heritage Site.

Spokesperson at the Department, Ram Bahadur Kunwar, said that permission was granted after the contractor refused to rebuild the bridge using antique materials. Chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-8 and coordinator of the Heritage and Tourism Committee, Ashaman Sangat, said that the bridge was constructed using construction materials as per the instructions given by the Department.

Devotees visiting the Pashupatinath area were facing problems due to the lack of the bridge. In the past, no vehicles have been allowed to ply on the bridge for the past one year if it was easy for motorbikes, taxis and small vehicles to ply. As a result, the devotees were compelled to visit the Guheshwari temple. Pedestrians were also facing difficulties as the bridge was in limbo.

Dharmaraj Baral, who has been running a religious campaign from Guheshwori, said the tourists visiting the Pashupati area have been facing problems due to the lack of a bridge. According to the locals, the bricks extracted during the demolition of the old bridge were stolen due to lack of protection.

Arjun Lamichhane, who is also the editor of Gauri Spiritual Monthly magazine, said that the bricks with slogans on Shree 5 Tribhuvan and Shree 3 Chandra Shumsher were found in the beginning. He demanded that the bodies concerned should give an explanation as to where the bricks of historical and archaeological importance had gone.
