Biratnagar. The Koshi Province government has decided to reconstruct all the houses damaged by floods and landslides a few days ago.
A meeting of the Province Disaster Management Council held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki took the decision to construct all the houses.
The Koshi Province government has said that it will immediately start rebuilding houses in Ilam, Jhapa and Morang districts, which were hardest hit by the disaster.
The meeting also decided to collect all the details of the houses and proceed with the construction work.
The meeting also decided to recommend to the federal government to declare seven local levels of Ilam district as crisis-hit.
Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Ram Bahadur Rana, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Bhupendra Rai and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Rewati Raman Bhandari have been assigned the responsibility of coordinating the relief and rehabilitation efforts in Ilam district. The team will inspect the entire area and expedite the reconstruction work in the field.
Similarly, Minister for Forest, Tourism and Environment Sadananda Mandal and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Rewati Raman Bhandari will work in coordination for Sunsari district.
Minister for Water Supply, Irrigation and Energy Ekraj Karki has been assigned the responsibility of necessary reconstruction and coordinating with all kinds of works. The meeting also decided to recommend to the Koshi Province government to spend it on reconstruction after considering the expenses and plans of the current budget.
Today’s meeting also directed the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure to immediately mobilize all its mechanisms to open all types of roads. On the occasion, Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki directed the meeting to proceed without leaving any stone unturned in the reconstruction and relief works.
