Kathmandu. With the arrival of Tihar, the second great festival of Nepalis, farmers are seen busy picking velvet flowers at Gundu of Suryabinayak Municipality-7 in Bhaktapur.
Laxmi Nagarkoti, a local farmer, said that the velvet flowers planted in the months of April and May are harvested in the months of July and August before Dashain and will be exported to foreign countries.
She informed that after Dashain, flowers will be planted for Tihar. She said that the price of each garland is Rs 22 to 23 and the businessmen come to buy the garlands at home.
At present, farmers pick flowers in the morning and garland in the afternoon. ।
