Kathmandu. The government has declared Ilam district affected by floods and landslides as disaster-hit zone.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Singha Durbar today decided to declare Ilam a disaster-hit zone for three months, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 39 people have died in landslides and floods occurred in the eastern hilly district Ilam since October 3. One person went missing and 26 were injured in the incident. Floods and landslides have caused huge damage to the road network in Ilam.
