Nuwakot. The economically poor and socially backward families have been included under the ambit of health insurance through the Bidur municipality of the district. More than 2,600 residents of around 700 families have been provided health insurance with the financial investment of the municipality.
Mayor Rajan Shrestha said the health insurance programme has been included in the health insurance programme for the economically poor, Dalit and marginalized communities as well as socially backward families. According to him, more than 2,600 people belonging to 672 families selected and recommended by the ward offices have been enrolled in the free health insurance program.
Mayor Shrestha said, “We have been providing financial assistance through the municipality as part of the state’s responsibility for the treatment of the economically backward people. The goal is to gradually include all the residents of the city. ’
Officiating Chief Administrative Officer Hari Prasad Pyakurel said that the families who have been insured through the municipality would be continued with the investment of the municipality in the coming days as well. According to him, the programme has been launched to establish health treatment as a right rather than a financial burden.
The Extremely Poor Citizen Health Insurance Programme, which was implemented through the annual approved programme of the fiscal year 2081/82, has come into implementation and the service has started to be availed. According to the municipality, Rs 22 lakh was spent for the program.
