Experts from 20 countries discuss internet and AI in Nepal

Kathmandu. Experts from 20 countries have gathered in Nepal for four days to discuss various topics related to the Internet and AI.

The conference named ‘APCIG 2025’ was organized by Asia Pacific School on Internet Governance, which has been working in the field of Internet for long, said Baburam Aryal, chairman of the organization from October 7 to 24. According to him, 16 rounds of discussions were held in the conference and thematic presentations were made by 22 expert speakers.

A total of 34 fellows including government officials, IT experts, professors, journalists, lawyers, activists and researchers from 16 countries are taking part in the conference.

Experts and professors, researchers, practitioners and advocates presented in-depth presentations on the correct and responsible use of the internet, its regulation and management, opportunities and challenges that the use of AI may bring in the future, cyber security, data security, use of social networks, management and regulation, distortion of misleading and sponsored information, adequate access and use of marginalized communities on the internet among the participants Bhandari informed.

Maryam Rashid, a participant from Pakistan, said that the participants of the conference have learned a lot on the basis of the practices and experiences being done in other countries.

Director of Internet Governance Institute Sapana Shahi informed that participants from more than 20 countries including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Malaysia, Bhutan, Yemen, Mongolia, Pakistan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Australia, Japan are participating in the conference.

Mr. Chiribabu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City and Mr. Baburam Aryal, Chairman of Asia Pacific School on Internet Governance, handed over the certificates to the participants.
