Birgunj. Birgunj Customs Office has collected Rs 11.18 billion from the import of petroleum products in the first two months of the current fiscal year.
In the first two months of the current fiscal year, the office spent Rs 26.33 billion to import five types of petroleum products. Of the total revenue collected from imports, the share of petroleum products is 28.56 percent.
Chief Customs Administrator at the Birgunj Customs Office, Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, said that the contribution of petroleum products and vehicles to the customs revenue is very high. “The customs here is dependent on imports. In which the share of petroleum products and vehicles is important. Likewise, imports of motor vehicles and their spare parts accounted for Rs 6.14 billion or 15.68 per cent.
Similarly, iron and iron goods accounted for Rs 2.54 billion or 6.49 per cent of the revenue. All types of clothing accounted for Rs 1.98 billion or 5.06 per cent. Birgunj Customs Office has collected Rs 39.15 billion in revenue in the first two months of the current fiscal year.
