Myagdi. A homestay service has come into operation at Toripani of Beni municipality-9. The homestay has been operated for the convenience of tourists visiting Toripani, improving the income of the locals, creating employment opportunities and promoting tourism. In the first phase, 21 homestays were run in five houses, said the group’s chairperson, Sita Khatri.
“Infrastructures including rooms and toilets have been prepared to accommodate the guests”, he said, adding, “Eco Himalaya has provided materials worth around six lakh rupees for beds, expansion and sanitation.” Juna Khatri, Rashmi Chokhal, Sujana Chokhal, Yuba Giri and Jamuna Shrestha have started their homestay. The organization has been registered. In the second phase, preparations have been made to conduct homestay in more homes.
Situated at an altitude of 1,750 metres above sea level, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Mt can be seen in the background. Toripani is famous for its spicy fruit timur cultivation. At the head of Toripani are the tourist place Todke, the historical site Dholthan Palace, and religious places.
The Gandaki state government is upgrading the road linking Beni to Toripani via Neptechaur. The federal government and the municipality are planning to upgrade the road connecting the palace to Dholthan via Toripani.
Toripani can be a suitable destination for guests who want to enjoy the family atmosphere of Beni. One can reach Todke located on the border of Beni municipality, Raghuganga and Mangala rural municipalities. Ward chair Chakra KC said the homestay service is expected to help promote tourism, create employment and increase income of locals.
