Department directs to make maximum retail price mandatory on essential commodities during festivals

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has drawn the attention of one and all concerned regarding the provision of maximum retail price in the goods to be sold during the festival time.

According to the Department, regular market monitoring found that the goods including Bhai masala, ÷copper and silver utensils and electronic appliances used during the Tihar season did not have label and price list with maximum retail sale price.

The department has stated that it is trying to maintain price stability by maintaining a balance between demand and supply in the market. According to the Department, there will be equally important contribution of business associations, associations and entrepreneurs as well as consumerist associations, organizations and consumers.

The Department has reminded that the goods purchased by the consumers should be purchased with a label with maximum retail sale price or price list. Consumers have been requested to inform the department toll-free number 1137 if they have any complaints.
