Farmers in Bardiya (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu. In Rajapur Municipality of Bardiya district, which is known as the granary of grains, farmers are struggling to harvest paddy these days.

Farmers are better off harvesting paddy after the rains have stopped. Paddy is cultivated in 50,100 hectares of land out of 75,000 hectares of arable land in Bardiya.
Bardiya contributes 20 percent of the rice produced in Lumbini Province.TAG_OPEN_span_38 The government has declared Rajapur Municipality as a paddy super zone.
The farmers of Bardiya, who were dependent only on paddy cultivation in the past years, have lately started getting attracted to crops like sugarcane and maize TAG_OPEN_span_37 ।
