Persa. The Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal seized 2,254 grams of gold and 10,354 grams of silver on the charge of evading customs duty.

Acting on a special tip-off, police confiscated the gold and silver from the house of Abhishek Sarraf at Maisthan of Birgunj Metropolis-8.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Puran Chandra Bhatta, who is also the commander of the APF Nepal Number 13 Battalion Headquarters, said that the gold and cash have been handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office.

“The amount of gold and silver was confiscated during a raid conducted on Monday on suspicion of importing gold by evading customs duty,” he said, adding, “The joint team seized the gold and silver from the Association of Dealers’ Association and 2,254.86 grams of gold and 10,354.07 grams of silver.” ”

The APF confiscated additional 559.10 grams of gold and 550 grams of silver. Likewise, police confiscated Rs 109,000 in Nepali currency and Rs 41,060 from the same godown.

Chief of Revenue Investigation Office, Pathlaiya-based Hari Prasad Sharma, said the audit of gold and silver and other investigations would be forwarded. “The investigation will proceed after the Revenue Investigation Department appoints an investigation officer after the investigation of the seized gold and silver is tested,” he said. According to him, a case would be filed after looking at the necessary documents as the gold and silver were seized on the basis of information of revenue leakage.
