Myagdi. The Beni-Darwang road linking three local levels in the western part of the district with the district headquarters Beni Bazaar has been repaired. Passenger buses and cargo vehicles have started plying along the Beni-Darwang road section after the landslide was cleared and widened after the rainy season stopped.

According to the Infrastructure Development Office, the road has been repaired in Phaparkhet, Lampata, Panabagar and Bangelandhada. Ramji Acharya, supervisor of the office, said that the road has been repaired and heavy vehicles can be operated after the rainy season has stopped.

The road was narrowed due to landslides. Supervisor Acharya said the road has been widened and two-way traffic will be allowed to operate after clearing the landslide. The 24-kilometer long Beni-Darwang road linking Dhawalagiri, Malika and Mangala rural municipalities with the district headquarters Beni Bazaar has come to a standstill for heavy vehicles since mid-July.

This road is also used by the residents of Tamankhola of Baglung. The Beni-Darwang road section has become difficult and risky due to landslides. Buses and trucks have started operating on the roads plying by jeeps, taxis, microbuses, motorbikes and tractors during the rainy season.

Manager of Myagdi Malika Transport Pvt Ltd Arjun Acharya said night bus service from Darwang to Kathmandu and Kathmandu to Darwang has come to be operated following the improvement of road road. Transportation of construction materials of four under-construction hydropower projects, roads, buildings, drinking water, bridges, transmission lines and substation projects in Myagdi River has also been eased.

The Beni-Darwang road section, which is in the final stage of being upgraded by the Infrastructure Development Office, has been obstructed during the rainy season due to lack of long-term prevention of landslides at different places.
