Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court is hearing the case against former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara on Monday.
He will be released on bail or remanded in custody after the detention hearing today. He was arrested on Sunday by the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police and a case was filed at the District Government Attorney’s Office on Monday.
Mahara has been fined Rs 85,55,28,374 and sentenced to more than three years in jail. Mahara has been accused of pressuring him to release the gold from the airport customs.
On December 26, 2022, Li Hansong, a Chinese passport carrier who had arrived in Kathmandu from flight number FJET 0587 of Fly Dubai, was arrested by the airport customs office after the vape was found in two suitcases.
