Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has remanded former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who was arrested on the charge of gold smuggling, to judicial custody.
The hearing was held by the Kathmandu District Court. A single bench of Justice Harka Bahadur Chhetri issued the order today. Mahara has been taken to the Central Prison, Sundhara.
He is found to be involved in the smuggling of gold through electronic cigarettes (vapes). Mahara had played a role in the release of more than 9 kg of gold from the customs.
