Germany urges Germany to provide experts to examine government structures damaged by Jenji agitation

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising held a meeting with German Ambassador to Nepal Udo Eugen Volz today.

In the meeting held at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation at Singha Durbar, Ambassador Volz extended congratulations to German minister Ghising and wished him a successful tenure.

On the occasion, discussions were held on economic cooperation between Germany and Nepal, solar operated with German assistance, Lekhnath-Damauli 220 KV transmission line project and possible areas of assistance for energy transformation, among others.

Minister Ghising also urged the German government to increase assistance to Nepal that it has been supplying to Nepal.

During the meeting, Minister Ghising said that Nepal and Germany have been collaborating in terms of economic assistance since long, adding that Middle Marsyangdi and Marsyangdi hydropower projects constructed with German assistance would serve as a lifeline to Nepal’s energy sector.

Stating that Green Triangle project promoted by Germany and the European Union to be developed by 2029 would be significant for energy consumption, Minister Ghising said works like expansion of transmission and distribution network would be started immediately to encourage and promote the use of electric vehicles and electricity for household purposes.

He urged the stakeholders to help the government to operate trolley buses, operate charging stations, expand transmission and distribution system and improve the transmission and distribution system to manage the increasing electricity load in the area as the roads to Pokhara, Butwal and Bharatpur are being expanded.

He also urged the government to provide international experts to assess and reconstruct the public and government structures that were severely damaged by fire during the Gen-G movement.

During the meeting, Ambassador Volz shared that a team from Germany will visit Nepal in coming December to identify the areas of assistance provided to Nepal for coming two years and to hold consultations to review the assistance.
