Kathmandu. CHITWAN: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has stressed the need of creating an environment conducive for the participation of all Nepalis in the elections announced by the government.

Addressing the party’s Central Working Committee meeting today, he urged the NC to seize this opportunity to reach the doorsteps of the people by standing in the front line enthusiastically.

Leader Koirala said, “The constitution promulgated after seven decades of efforts is now in a semi-conscious state. Where we stand to protect this constitution will determine the future political direction. ’

He said that the political parties, the Genji generation and all others have given the mandate for the election to the incumbent government. He said that the government should bring the weapons looted during the Jenji agitation on September 7 and 24 under the control of the government to create conducive environment for the elections. On the occasion, Dr Koirala said that the government should not delay in finding the criminals who escaped from jail on a war footing, taking them under control and bringing them to book.

Stating that the party’s 15th general convention should be held in coming December to make the NC a party of new direction and new possibilities, he said only the regular general convention would be possible to address all the parties and bring freshness to the leadership.

Stating that a united Congress, a strong Congress and timely change were the need of the hour, leader Koirala demanded withdrawal of action against all those who were recommended for action on the basis of complaints that they did not support the candidates of the alliance with the NC and other parties in 2079 BS or for contesting rebel candidates.
