Roads to be upgraded with Rs 294.6 million grant from World Bank

Kanchanpur. Laljhadi Rural Municipality has been carrying out road upgradation with a grant of Rs 294,643,723 from the World Bank.

The road is being upgraded and blacktopped under the provincial and local road infrastructure programme. Nirmal Rana, chairperson of the rural municipality, said that work has been forwarded to blacktop the 13.6-km road from Chandev to ward-2, Kathmandu Danda.

According to him, the blacktopping will be carried out in a width of five meters while the width of the road will be from eight meters to 10 meters. “The contract was already signed with Dukuchu÷Anank÷Joshi JV for the blacktopping of the road. The construction work will begin within a few days,” he said.

A deadline has been set to complete the road construction by mid-June. The road will be accessible to Sudurpaschim Province headquarters in the east and district headquarters Belauri-Kaluwapur highway in the west.

Ram Chandra Khatri, manager of the provincial and local road infrastructure programme, said that efforts are being made to resolve the problem by holding discussions with the affected families to speed up the construction work.
