‘FourG’ service starts in Talkot of Bajhang from today

Kathmandu. Nepal Telecom’s ‘FourG’ service has started in Talkot of Bajhang from today. The 4G service has come into operation for the first time with the installation of a BTS tower at Bungadanda of Talkot Rural Municipality-4 of the district. According to Tilak Dhami, an engineer at the Provincial Directorate of Nepal Telecom, Attariya, the fourG service has come into operation from today. According to the technical adjustment, the 2G service will be phased out from Friday.

The 4G service has come into operation at Talkot Ward No 1 and 4 of the district while remaining areas of Jaya Prithvi municipality ward no 1 and 5, Chhabis Pathibhara rural municipality-1 and Khaptad Chhanna rural municipality will also be connected soon. The service will resume once the physical infrastructures have been constructed and BTS equipment is installed in these areas, according to the Nepal Telecom.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, coordinated and urged to bring the 4G into operation at Talkot. Minister Kharel said that Nepal Telecom was working to ease the access of Telecom to remote areas and he has also given special priority to it.

He said that he has been repeatedly urging the telecom offices to expand telephone and internet services in remote districts like Bajhang, Bajura and Jajarkot and to improve the quality of service.

According to Gorakh Bahadur Jethara, chairman of Talkot Ward No. 4, the rural municipality has brought the 4G service into operation. He said with the operation of the 4G service, it would be easier for the locals to make emergency contact, daily business and exchange family messages.

Located in the eastern and northern part of the district, Talkot Rural Municipality adjoins the district headquarters. Earlier, the telephone service which was disrupted for the past two weeks at Barekot following the coordination and prompting of the Minister for Information and Communications was restored after technical repairs.

Minister Kharel has already directed the bodies concerned to give special priority to the expansion of service in Karnali Province, Sudurpaschim Province and Madhes Province.
