Kathmandu Valley celebrates Deusi Bhailo festival

Kathmandu. Tihar, the second greatest festival of Hindus, has already begun. The special feature of Tihar is that during the five days of Tihar, also known as Deusi Bhailo and Yamapanchak, various animals are worshipped. Now, Deusi Bhailo has started reverberating in the Kathmandu Valley and abroad.

On this occasion, Magar Bheja Samaj Nepal has also been organizing various programs and organizing Deusi Bhailo program. Khim Bahadur Thapa Magar, president of the society, said that the festival has been performing Deusi Bhailo along with traditional Deusi Bhailo, Jhaure dance, Maruni and other dances.

Magar said that the Magar Bheja Samaj has organized such program every year with the objective of informing the new generation about our culture including Deusi Bhailo as it has been playing Deusi by visiting the houses of various relatives and individuals during the Tihar.

The reason for playing Deusi Bhailo during the festival. There are various mythological sayings about why Deusi Bhailo is played.

In particular, Baliraja’s narration is attached to it. According to the legend, the demon king Bali, in the form of Vamana avatar, took three steps of the land asked for by Vishnu, and in the third step, the entire land was covered.

At that time, Vishnu asked for ‘give the head’, which has been corrupted and now the saga of Deusi is going on. People play Deusi Bhailo in remembrance of Vishnu’s gift to Bali who has gone to the underworld after losing all his possessions ।
